Fun, friendly, original, unusual, inventive, passionate, relaxed, informal and delicious - Creelers is a phenomenon to be found just off the main road in Broadford, at NG648231. In the season, they are open from noon till late evening, from Monday to Saturday, serving wonderful food from their eclectic menu. It's Scottish/mediteranean/cajun in style (!) with a genuine emphasis on local produce. It's a seafood restaurant, a gumbo shack, a tapas bar and an art gallery, all crammed into an unpreposessing small building.
And, as if that wasn't enough, it is blessed with brilliant views across Broadford Bay and its islands.
Seafood takes a lead role, with mussels, scallops, squat lobster, prawns and a selection of fresh white fish. You can have them cooked simply, or as part of the most excellent Seafood Gumbo - which is something of a Creelers signature dish. Then there are steaks, chicken, chilli, pasta, pizza, lamb, venison...
Puddings are excellent too, and the crème brûlée is even better than that!
This is great food, perfectly prepared and very, very tasty. If I had only one opportunity to eat lunch on Skye - you would find me at Creelers.
